SHADOW OF THE SWAN BY NICOLA M. CAMERON

Synopsis

A determined academic, trapped by her ancestor’s pact. A gentleman vampire, sworn to protect her. And a deadly Fae king, bent on claiming her as his bride.

In the golden years of the Victorian Era, Louisa Wallingford investigates myths and legends around the globe with her historian uncle, until her life is torn apart by an ancient promise to a sadistic Fae royal. Faced with becoming his unwilling bride, Louisa’s only escape is an arranged marriage … to a handsome but distant vampire.

Sir Henry Carstairs gave up his humanity to save the queen he loved. When he failed, he vowed to protect her daughter and the country she ruled. Now, his vow requires him to enter an arranged marriage in order to protect a beautiful, headstrong scholar. But as their mock relationship becomes real, a deadly conflict between the British Empire and the Land of Faerie threatens to separate them forever.

Review

I was lucky enough to receive this book from BookSirens. I hope the prospective reader will read this review fully before making any prejudgments on the book. I will give the book my thoughts. These thoughts are completely my own and not swayed in any way by anyone else’s reviews or opinions.

Oh, this book is amazing. I have read some absolutely wonderful books and poems lately and this one is just another one to the list. While this is the first book I read by this author, I know for sure it won’t be the last. This book is the epitome of a well-written paranormal romance. There is so much to unpack and this book, seriously, does it all. To say I am excited about it is a complete understatement.

I think one of the most amazing moments is that I understood where Louisa was in the world. She is a traveler with her uncle, Charles. I see this as a faded veil. There are two different worlds. Cameron is a smart author that has given the audience the best of the supernatural world without losing touch with the real world. The way this author writes is wonderful. There were breadcrumbs throughout the whole book. Readers are captivated from the first page and I know that I could not put it down at all.

My Rating: I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. I am ready for more. I want the happiness of breaking open another Cameron book. I decided that I did not need to put it down unless I absolutely have to. I didn’t want the book to end. There was so much love that was put into this book, and I am ready to fall into the rabbit hole that is Nicola Cameron again.
