Review

I was given this ARC as a gift from the author. My opinions and thoughts of the book are mine alone.

The first thing that I noticed was the story. Not only was the book itself written really well, but the deciding factor was the plot. When an author builds a story around a wonderful plot, what could go wrong? The main part of this story is the balance of paranormal and reality. There wasn’t too much of either where the reader is confused about the storyline, but just enough to give us the mythical joy. The storyline includes a romance that gave us time to settle into the world. I mean this author really thought of everything. I questioned how it could all fit into one book. This is something that I shouldn’t have worried about. The book is everything you want in a story.

Everything is very calculated by the author. There is an emphasis on the understanding of the real world and how it is as important as the paranormal aspect. Instead of this need to finish everything quickly, there was an excitement about even the little things. This is so unique when looking at it. I look at this book as a moment in time where details matter. I also didn’t find myself wanting to skip to the big things. I wanted to savor all the little things. I would include the storytelling using moments where the characters were together. There was something so real about the way characters spoke with one another. It was as if each time the characters opened their mouth, it was imperative that the reader listens.

My Rating: I rate this book 4 out of 5 stars. I want more. I think that there is so much to discover. This author took time to develop this book and it was worth every second. I have to say, now I want to read The Shark and The Vampire. I feel that there is a concept to these books that are unique and different. I recommend this book, but don’t get too excited yet! It will be released September 2023! Keep a look out, but in the meantime, read others by this author. I am telling you that there is something about this book that will have you on the edge of your seat to read.
