Hayden Crowe fronts an all-girls band down in Austin, Texas. Between tending bar so her sister can stay in school and dealing with the fallout after their addict father skipped town, she hasn’t exactly had time to join the social media freak out over the recent outing of vampires and werewolves.
Her world comes crashing down the night she’s attacked in an alley after a gig and bitten by a feral werewolf. Unable to return home for fear of hurting her sister, and with a message scrawled across her arm warning HOSPITALS NOT SAFE, Hayden is left with just one option…
Him.
Ethan Caldwell doesn’t do relationships. Adopted son of the pack Alpha, he lives a solitary life as a barista and artist. Things three years ago with Hayden Crowe… went too far. By pack law, she couldn’t be told what he was. Ending it was for her own protection.
But when Hayden shows up on his doorstep, newly changed and in danger, Ethan defies his father’s orders to stay away. Someone in the paranormal community is hunting her, and hell if he’s going to fail her again.
Review
I was lucky enough to receive this book from BookSirens. I hope the prospective reader will read this review fully before making any prejudgments on the book. I will give the book my thoughts. These thoughts are completely my own and not swayed in any way by anyone else’s reviews or opinions.
This book did a great job of making the characters complex and not one dimensional. I also felt that the pace of the story matches well with the development of the character. Part of an amazing paranormal romance is the real-world aspect. I really dislike when paranormal romance books go far away from humanity and there wasn’t a lot of substance to it. Honestly, there is none of that. I enjoyed every aspect of the characters in this book.
This book was written in an amazing manner. Kinney has a real gift for taking what others would spend chapters trying to do and does it in just a few sentences. This was something that I found a lot throughout the book. The author puts so much into the story without compromising on the pace. This book was neither too fast or too slow. Should I say it is perfect? Okay yes, I am saying that it is perfect.
My Rating: This book is 5 out of 5 shifter stars. There was mystery, romance and shifters. This book brings more heart and soul to the paranormal world. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a good paranormal read. I was left wanting more, in the best way possible, and even more so, a vacation to a mythical place. I am ready for more!
