Synopsis
Can the man who shattered Anna’s dreams help her pick up the pieces?
A wounded heart. A cancelled book contract. A part-time job that doesn’t pay the bills. When Anna Simone moved to Cedar Lake last summer to concentrate on her writing, nothing went as she had planned. Scrambling to find more work, she jumps at the opportunity for more hours at the Starlight Inn. But when her new co-worker turns out to be the man who crushed her author dreams, her excitement slams to a halt.
Once a hotshot editor for a publishing house in Toronto, Matthew Talbot returned to Cedar Lake after the company collapsed. Stuck between jobs and tired of delivering produce for his brother’s market garden, he agrees to help the owners of the Starlight Inn prepare an old barn for an upcoming community dance. The last person he expects to work alongside is an author—especially not one whose book deal he decided to cut.
When he offers Anna a kind gesture to ease his guilt, unexpected feelings rise between them. But with family drama, unresolved pasts, and a pattern of miscommunication—can these two learn to forgive and trust each other?

Review
I was lucky enough to receive this book from BookSirens. I hope the prospective reader will read this review fully before making any prejudgments on the book. I will give the book my thoughts. These thoughts are completely my own and not swayed in any way by anyone else’s reviews or opinions.
I read the first book of this series and when I saw this ARC on BookSirens, I was ecstatic. I wanted to get to reading the second book. Let me just tell you that it was just as amazing as the first. I love these stories. They are easy to read and so loving. I feel that I can just read this book right after the first again and again. The story just makes me so happy and the characters are fun. There is strife and realistic feelings in play.
I love that love is in the forefront. I don’t mean only romantic love. There is friendship and community as well. I think that the most important love is self-love. Confidence is key. I love that these women know who they are and what they want in life and love. I think that this book brings a whole new meaning to butterflies in your stomach.
Usually, I love the first book and sequels match up to it. In this story, I love it as much as the first and in some moments, even more. There is so much heart in this book. As a reader, I love the book club feel and the family moments. No family is absolutely perfect and flaws come out. I think that it is nice to see that parents aren’t immune to making mistakes.
My Rating: Like the first, the second book is on my highly recommended list. I believe that it is a read again 5 out of 5 star book. This story is as if you’re drinking a warm cup of tea on a cold day. I want to see Cedar Lake in the fall. I want to be part of the community events at the Starlight Inn. There is so much more that I want to know and I cannot wait until the next one comes out!
Reviewer Note: I read this book as an ARC for preorder. This book has not been released. The release date is July 27, 2021. Please view the Amazon link I gave above to preorder the book. Thank you!
