I was lucky enough to read this book after the author reached out to me. I hope the prospective reader will read this review fully before making any prejudgments on the book. I will give the book my thoughts. These thoughts are completely my own and not swayed in any way by anyone else’s reviews or opinions.

The last of mythical Ireland has decided to come to a close. There is a major collide between the magical world and the beginning of the nineteenth century. Donn needs to secure funds to recover his family’s land. Donn joins a crew to set sail and leaves his love, Bridget, on Achill Island. He wants to return as a gentleman that deserves her hand in marriage. He hopes that she will wait for him to return and not marry another. Donn now has to face the many legendary creatures and stop the recovery of the lost treasures of Tuatha de Danann. Donn is faced with many ups and downs, guarding the people he holds dear, as well as trying to reclaim his family’s history.

The balance that this book has is amazing. There is action and romance that fit together like two peas in a pod. There are amazing moments where they blend together seamlessly. Each character was more than basic. There were different emotions that carried their way through each person. There were absolutely no holes in character development and nothing was ever the same drab character arc. It was unique and powerful. There is a new standard now to romance and action. I love the way I felt at the end of the story. I loved the characters. There was n0thing that I could complain about the writing style and character creation.

The incredible nature of the magic that this book gives the reader is something that I will remember for years to come. I was a bit worried when I first saw the book because I usually find it difficult to connect with the story that is mythically based. I do love books that bring me into a world that is not what I was originally expecting. This book transformed the world around me. If I were to look up from the book, I could see it around me. That was just a wonderful experience that I was not expecting. I loved the romance aspect of the book. I felt as if it wasn’t too much, but perfect. Books can sometimes be all about the romance and the two main characters, but for me, the scenery was a character in itself. That feeling is absolutely incredible. When I sat down to read this book, I couldn’t stop. Once I finished, I wanted to start it again. I was ready to sit down and write this review, but I couldn’t. I needed a moment to process the story that I just read.

My Rating: This novel was exquisite. I want to say that this is one of the few books that I will want to read again. It was a hidden gem that was unexpected and wonderful. I was ready to want more. I am ready to read more. I cannot express more that this book is 5 out of 5 stars. This book is for everyone. This is the story for the reader, the skeptic, and everyone in between. I wanted to read literary genius that was part of this generation. I found this. Jim Sheehan will give you a work of fiction that is creative, yet gives you room to create your own vision of this world. You are going to love this book. I loved this book. I can’t contain my excitement for this story and I will continue to thank the author every day for reaching out to me and giving me a wonderful new favorite.
